Mickey's Herbal Tea Formulas
I really like herbal teas as many of them are not only healing, but also very stimulating and refreshing. The bonus is that the tea is quickly absorbed into your system for speedy results. It's also good for people who don't like or can't swallow pills, and for very young children (in appropriately smaller amounts).
Herbal teas offer a delicious range of flavors for those who want a non-caffeine drink or want the healing benefits inherent in the herbs. These teas are packaged in 4x4 inch reusable Ziplock bags (1/2 cup herbs). We encourage you to store these teas in your own recycled jars. Don't be shocked by what the herbs look like. If you've only had an herbal tea in a tea bag before, you've never noticed that the herbs look like a bunch of dried weeds, grass clippings, dead flowers, and is that really wood in there? Yep, that's herbal tea.
Will the herbs in these teas really work on your health problems? Yes and very quickly. The Allergy and Sinus tea, for example, may stop your sniffling in as little as 5 minutes. The herbal essences are quickly absorbed into your system in hot tea. Not all the teas have a great flavor. Some of the healing teas use herbs with a bitter or other unpleasant flavor. If we tried to mask the flavor, we could be altering the effectiveness of the herbal blend. Think of it this way: if it tastes bad, that's God's way of saying you don't need to much. If you are interested in brewing your own teas from leaves and flowers in your yard be sure to check for cautions such as the one above about drying the leaves before using. Sweet Woodruff (used to smooth spring wine) is another herb that can only be used after it is dried. The drying process eliminates some irritating components of the plant.

Bulk Herb Tea Storage
Our herbal tea blends and special formulas are bulk packaged in a 4 mil, 4x4 inch reusable Ziplock bag with 1/2 cup of raw herbs. Using a rounded teaspoon of herbs for each cup of tea, you can make at least 20 cups of brewed tea per package.
To store our bulk packaged herbal teas, keep the bags in a cool, dark location. For long term storage, put the raw herbs in a glass jar or your freezer as "bugs" will be attracted to them. If you're not familar with making bulk teas, check out our tea accessories, such as stainless steel tea balls and cotton bags.
How to Prepare My Herbal Tea Formulas.
1) Single Serving: Your normal strength tea calls for 1 teaspoon of herbs to 1 cup boiling water. Cover your hot tea while it steeps 5 to 10 minutes so you don't evaporate the good benefits in the steam from the cup. Enjoy it hot or cold.
2) Herbal Concentrate: You can make a very strong tea if you like. This way you won't be drinking as much liquid and will be getting more of the herbs benefits. Use the entire contents of the package (1/2 cup herbs) along with 2-1/2 to 3 cups boiling water. Cover and let steep to room temperature. Strain it into a bottle and sweeten with honey, if desired. Refrigerate. This will keep 4 or 5 days in the refrigerator. If you need to keep it longer, store it in the freezer. By using this method, you have your tea ready, especially if you are going to use it over several days.
3) Concentrated Herbal Tincture: You can make any of these teas into a tincture which then makes them immediately available to you in a preserved state. An herbal tincture, or extract, consists of herbs that are preserved in an alcohol solution. Since the herbs are suspended in alcohol, they can be stored on the shelf and don't have to be refrigerated. This method takes longer for preparation but it produces a stronger concentration of herbal extracts. An herbal tincture is a highly concentrated mixture, so a single dose is only a tablespoon at a time.
How to make your own Herbal Tinctures.
Combine the entire package of herbs (1/2 cup) with 1-1/2 cups 80 proof vodka in a glass jar. Cover and let sit 1 or 2 months, or more. The longer it sits, the stronger it gets. You can speed this process by putting it in a sunny window where it will be gently warmed. When you are ready to use it, strain the tincture into a glass bottle. Add 1/3 as much honey by volume. Shake to blend.
